Enjoying Every Step of His Life

Cael took his first steps tonight, as Mama and Daddy were both playing in his room with him. I said to him, mostly jokingly, "Take a step," and he did! He spent the next five minutes taking a couple of steps back and forth between us. We were cheering him on and clapping for him, which egged him on. His smile filled his face, and he even tried clapping while he walked. He leaned forward a little too much in his excitement most of the time, but he did well for his first attempt with this difficult motor skill. It seemed like he was trying to sprint to us. Once, he even crawled to his dad and then stood up and walked back to me. He knew that he was doing something new and something great. He burst his own buttons being proud of himself.

We had so much fun with it as a family. What a blessing that both of us were here for this momentous event! We didn't have a chance to video it, as we were both fully engaged in the back-and-forth action. I have a video in my head, though, that I keep re-playing. It will do until we capture it with the camera.

Happy tears, happy tears. Way to go, little buddy.
